Portfolio The Great Badminton Church Restoration Fund The Great Badminton Church Restoration Fund was established in 2014 by Badminton PCC to raise funds for and manage a major restoration project to bring the Parish Church of St. Michael and All Angels, Great Badminton back to its full glory. Great Badminton Church is a Georgian church built in 1785 at the order of the 5th Duke of Beaufort. It replaced an earlier mediaeval church, which stood a few yards to the west of the current building. Great Badminton is one of the finest examples of a Georgian church outside of London and retains all of its original fittings, including the tall box pews. It is attached to the south-eastern corner of His Grace The Duke of Beaufort's seat, Badminton House and is the burial place of the Dukes and Duchesses of Beaufort. Within the church you can see numerous elaborate monuments and memorials to the Dukes and their families. Prominent amongst these are the huge Grinling Gibbons monument to the 1st Duke, the two Rysbrack monuments to the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Dukes, and the memorial to Field Marshal Baron Raglan, the commander of the British Forces in the Crimean War. The Original Website The church restoration project needed a website to help promote the fundraising efforts and to give potential donors and grantors information about the church restoration project. Cotswold Websites was tasked with building the website. As well as the informational pages, Cotswold Websites integrated a gallery to highlight the different aspects of the church, and an extensive secure membership area of the website where potential donors and those involved with the project can view documents which are not intended for public display. The website was built in Joomla! due to its superior content management capabilities. The New Website In 2017 it was decided to rebuild The Great Badminton Church Restoration Fund's website to bring in more dynamic and visually exciting features. The new website was created using WordPress and makes great use of parallax image scrolling, dynamic picture galleries, as well as an easy-to-use online shop to sell cards and leaflets through, and take donations. The gallery below shows the old website followed by the new one. All of the photography on the website was also undertaken by Cotswold Websites, as was the graphic design. Ellie White Ellie White, Gloucestershire is a luxury brand and independent publisher, based in the southern Cotswolds. Cotswold Websites were asked to create an online presence for Ellie White in the form of a clean and visually enticing website, together with an integrated online shop. We were also tasked to create a simple, but memorable logo for the brand, in the form of a Lurcher running at speed. The Ellie White website was built using Joomla! and a responsive template to make sure it is optimised for all screen sizes. The shop is fully integrated with the main website so that the whole website has a uniform appearance. Herbal King Herbal King is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) shop and practice in Sutton, Surrey. Herbal King previously had a very basic web presence with a website that was very much showing its age. Cotswold Websites was asked to create a new website, along with an online shop. The website was built with Joomla!, in anticipation of the large numbers of article, which were expected to be published, forward-going. Joomla!'s well designed Content Management System was the ideal platform to help manage the articles and categories as simply as possible. The online shop was built using Zen Cart, which at the time was shopping cart of choice. The shop manages in the region of 100 different products. Important to Herbal King was the colour scheme. To reflect the business's TCM roots, the Chinese Feng Shui colours of red and green needed to be prominent. The Badminton Benefice The Badminton Benefice, in the Diocese of Gloucester, consists of seven rural parishes straddling the Gloucestershire, South Gloucestershire and Wiltshire borders. Its parishes are largely traditional in their worship, using the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and The King James Version for their services. The Benefice previously had a simple self built website, which gave basic information about the Benefice and the rota of services. It was clear that a fuller, more professional website was needed and so Cotswold Websites were asked to build a new website from scratch. The new site was built using Joomla! due to the relatively large amount of pages, which were expected for the website and therefore the requirement to manage the articles as easily as possible. Incorporated into the website is an image gallery, categorising and captioning pictures of the nine churches in the Benefice. The Gloucestershire Society The Gloucestershire Society is the oldest surviving county society. Founded on 1st December 1657 by a group of fifty "Gloucestershire gentlemen that inhabit within the City of Bristol", a set of rules was established for a county charity, whose aim was to support those who are Gloucestershire born and bred and have fallen upon hard times. Each year a President is chosen to head The Gloucestershire Society and lead the fundraising for the year. The President presides over the Committee and each summer organises the Society's annual Feast and church service. The aims of The Gloucestershire Society in the 21st Century are fundamentally unchanged from its inception in the 17th Century. Grants are still made to the poor and needy of the old County of Gloucestershire, but nowadays the applications for support tend to come through local councils and local charities, which support those in need. Grants are handled swiftly and tend to be between £50 - £200 on average. In total some £55,000 is granted each year. Until Cotswold Websites was asked to design and build a website, The Gloucestershire Society had never had a website before. It was decided to build the site using Joomla!, mainly due to Joomla!'s excellent management of content. Books About Dogs The Books About Dogs website was created in January 2017 to pre-launch the author Pippa White's upcoming book, Ellie White. Ellie White tells the story of Pippa's Bedlington-cross Lurcher, who was rescued in August 2009 and came to live with her in Gloucestershire. The book follows Ellie's story, along with anecdotes and delightful tales about Pippa's interaction with and observations about many other animals through her life. Ellie White is a book about rescue and redemption, both the dogs and the owner herself. The design requirements for Books About Dogs were straight-forward. The website needed to be a landing page to primarily promote Ellie White, build a mailing list and sell the digital and physical copies of the book, once they are available. Books About Dogs was designed by Cotswold Websites using WordPress and a single page design template, which features an array of tools to held promote the book and let the viewer see passages from it. The mailing list requirement was achieved by integrating the customer's e-mail autoresponder with the website, so that wherever on the website a viewer signs-up to receive the free chapters or newsletter, their e-mail address will be added to the mailing list. In the background of the website is a webshop. It is accessed through the sales section of the website, but is not overtly present, as set out by the customer. Only when the viewer clicks on one of the saleable books will they be taken through to the shop to securely process their purchase or free download.
